Garmin has long held a dominant position in the smartwatch market and it offers a great (and broad) range of models that cater to everyone from absolute beginners to elite athletes. Whether you’re tracking your first 5K or preparing for an ultra-marathon, there’s a Garmin for you. The Epix Gen 2 is a genuine all-rounder in this group, and it combines high-end sports features with a look that will please both performance-oriented users and those who like a fashionable accessory.
What is unique about today’s deal is the price: Garmin Epix Gen 2 now costs $474 on Amazon and debuted at $999 (53% off the original price, $525 off). This is the first time that this device has been available at this price, with the only lower price being for a short time during last year’s Black Friday. Amazon appears to be clearing inventory, make sure you pick up one of Garmin’s most premium smartwatches for less than half its launch price.
Perfect Companion
The Epix Gen 2 is the perfect companion for a huge range of activities : there’s a stunning 1.3-inch always-on AMOLED display which delivers vibrant colors and exceptional clarity whether you’re reading notifications or following a route on a sunlit mountain. The touchscreen is super responsive but Garmin has also retained its signature five-button layout to make sure you have seamless operation even when you’re wearing gloves or navigating in wet conditions. The titanium bezel brings an air of sophistication but also keeps the watch light and durable.
The battery life is also impressive, and this is a good point if you’re considering buying this Garmin watch : You get up to 16 days of battery life in smartwatch mode with gesture-based activation or up to 5 days when you have the always-on display enabled. Switch to GPS mode and the watch will last up to 42 hours (gesture) or 30 hours (always-on). For those who venture off-grid, the Epix Gen 2’s multi-band GNSS technology enables accurate positioning in challenging environments – such as dense forests or urban canyons.
The Epix Gen 2 includes 24/7 heart rate, Pulse Ox, respiration, stress, and sophisticated sleep patterns monitoring. It’s not a medical device but it includes sufficient data in its report cards to assist in informing training and recovery decisions. In addition to the usual sports apps integrated into all Forerunner watches, which include running and cycling, as well as swimming, skiing, and golf, to name a few, the Epix Gen 2 includes Garmin’s novel Outdoor Navigator app with sophisticated route mapping.
At this price point, the Garmin watch might run out of stock pretty quickly.
