HONOR PAD V9 Review: A Feature-Packed 11-inch Tablet With High Refresh Rate and Long Battery Life

Honor has officially unveiled the global version of its Honor Pad V9 at MWC 2025, following its initial launch in China on December 17, 2024. Positioned as a premium tablet priced at €450 (£360  in UK), the Pad V9 delivers long battery life with a large 10,100mAh capacity, features a thin and light chassis with a stylish unibody design, and offers a high refresh rate of 144Hz for smooth casual gaming. The device also features stylus support, allowing users to create high-quality sketches and more. The global version is available in white and gray and comes equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Elite chipset, 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage (storage options may vary by region)

Design and Build

One of the standout aspects of the Honor Pad V9 is its thin and lightweight unibody design. Available in white and gray, this uber-stylish tablet offers a sleek, 6.1mm thin profile and weighs only 475g, making it ultra-portable while maintaining durability. The distinctive double-ring design encircling the back camera adds a touch of elegance, making it instantly recognizable.

Honor uses an industry-first NIL (Nano-topography) Process on the back cover, which resists dirt, fingerprints, and smudges. According to HONOR, this advanced manufacturing technique also improves durability by dispersing impact forces, ensuring that the tablet withstands everyday use. Additionally, the Pad V9 has received SGS Gold Five-Star Whole Machine High-Strength Certification, with bending resistance of 100N/mm, proving its structural robustness.

Display and Entertainment Experience – Excellent

The Honor Pad V9 features a gorgeous 11.5-inch LCD with an 88% screen-to-body ratio. With a 2.8K resolution and an ultra-smooth 144Hz refresh rate, the display delivers crisp visuals with high contrast and vivid colors, making it ideal for gaming, video streaming, and productivity tasks.

The 500-nit brightness ensures excellent visibility even in direct sunlight, and HONOR Eye Protection Technology enhances user comfort:

• TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification: Reduces harmful blue light by 6.3% to ease eye strain.
• Dynamic Dimming: Mimics natural light patterns to stimulate ciliary muscle activity, reducing eye fatigue by 18%.

Audio Quality – Excellent

The Honor Pad V9 features eight powerful speakers for immersive sound. The 90-degree soundstage projects sound up to 60 cm, delivering clear and rich audio at high volume even for such a slim chassis.

The tablet is certified with IMAX Enhanced, DTS:X technology, and Hi-Res Audio, ensuring cinematic-quality sound for movie streaming, music playback, and gaming. AI Voiceprint Noise Reduction helps filter out background noise, improving voice clarity during video calls or recordings.

Stylus Support

The HONOR Pad V9 is designed to support third-party styluses. However, for the most precise, responsive, and feature-rich experience, the manufacturer recommends the HONOR Magic Pencil 3 tailored to the Pad V9 to deliver ultra-low latency, tilt recognition, and advanced pressure sensitivity.

Camera

Equipped with a 13 MP (f/2.0) rear shooter and an 8MP (f/2.0) front sensor, the Pad V9 delivers 4K and 1080p videos at 30 fps with the primary rear camera and 1080p at 30 fps in selfie mode. I shot a few photos with both cameras, and the image quality is very good. The beautification feature in selfie mode ensures an enhanced look for all your self-portraits.

Honor Pad V9 Performance Test and Comparison

Under the hood, the Honor Pad V9 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Elite chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The octa-core CPU includes four Arm Cortex-A715 cores, reaching speeds of up to 3.35GHz for smooth multitasking and gaming. It is a refresher processor launched about six months ago that brought power efficiency and performance improvements.

HONOR RAM Turbo (12GB + 12GB) technology expands RAM virtually, increasing total available RAM to 24GB to further enhance performance. This feature ensures efficient app management and improved overall responsiveness, and it works by optimizing resource utilization instead of adding more hardware.

We ran multiple benchmarks and our takeaway is the Honor Pad V9 is a huge performance improvement over the Honor Pad 9, and of course the Honor Pad 8. Whether it is in CPU or graphics performance, the new Honor Pad V9 easily outpaces its predecessors.

People often compare the Xiaomi Pad 7 to the Honor Pad V9, and for good reason. Their performance is comparable, and both platforms run neck and neck in popular tests. The Honor Pad V9 is great for productivity, entertainment, and casual gaming.

There are more powerful and expensive tablets on the market, and if you’re willing to pay (much) more, it’s easy to buy higher performance. This is not the market aimed for this tablet.

Battery

The 10,100mAh battery delivers impressive battery life, with HONOR Labs data estimating:

• 13.5 hours of online video streaming
• 7.2 hours of gaming
• 16.7 hours of social media browsing
• 40 hours of music playback

During testing, the battery drained 65% to 2% in 5 hours and 30 minutes while streaming a 4K movie over Wi-Fi, with the brightness set to a maximum.

Charging Speed

Charging is relatively fast with the included 35W wired charger, which charged 36% in approximately 40 minutes, and in 30 minutes, I got 28% charge, which allows for about 2.5 to 3 hours of 4K video streaming.

Value

The Honor Pad V9 shines when you look at its value proposition. This can be illustrated in several ways, but looking at how much battery capacity or performance you get for the money you pay shows that it is a much better utilization of your savings than buying the fastest and most expensive models (such as the $699/€699 iPad Air 11)—depending on your usage, of course. However, most people use tablets for entertainment, not professionally.

Software and Features

The Honor Pad V9 runs on MagicOS 9.0, based on Android 15, bringing several new features to enhance user experience:
