The app allows users to track family members’ real-time locations on a map and set up alerts for specific locations, providing peace of mind for parents and caregivers.
One of the key features, Safe Walk with SOS, enables users to share their location with designated emergency contacts, allowing for immediate assistance in situations where they may feel unsafe. This feature serves as a virtual panic button, helping parents grant more freedom to their children while staying reassured of their safety.
Additionally, the app provides insights into children’s Verizon call and text history, allowing parents to monitor communication patterns for potential concerns. This promotes a proactive approach to maintaining open, safe digital communication within families. Verizon Family complements existing safety tools like the Gizmo Watch and resources under Verizon’s “Parenting in a Digital World” initiative.
Verizon Family offers a free version for all Verizon mobile customers with postpaid plans, as well as a paid tier at $14.99 per month. The paid version provides enhanced parental controls, online activity monitoring, driving insights, and roadside assistance, adding extra layers of security and support for families.
This launch aligns with Verizon’s broader mission to foster safe, healthy relationships with technology, as underscored by Verizon Consumer Group CEO Sowmyanarayan Sampath.
